Learn why Aussie Mums Love NappyLuxe

"They Contain Everything"

Hear from 5 Aussie mums about why NappyLuxe is their go-to brand of cloth nappy. Having tried 50+ brands between them, these mums know what's important in choosing a good nappy: reliability, containment of mess, softness, cute prints, and more.

Why NappyLuxe?

With lots of competing brands and nappy styles, it can be hard to know who to trust. The truth is, not all cloth nappies are made equal. Many competing brands are made of low-quality materials and do not include crucial design features.

Watch our customer videos to hear first-hand how we stack up against the competition and why we are the go-to brand for experienced cloth nappy users.

Reusable Cloth Nappies

Are you looking for an eco-friendly alternative to disposable nappies? Reusable nappies, also known as modern cloth nappies, cloth diapers, non-disposable nappies, material nappies and sometimes eco nappies, are fully machine washable and easy to use, providing a greener money-saving alternative to disposables.

If you have just started researching reusable nappies, you are in the right place. We make nappy changes easy with lots of FREE resources, guides, trial packs and videos, enabling you to learn how to use cloth nappies correctly and what to look for when using them part-time or full-time.

How to use reusable cloth nappies

For many, the switch to reusables can seem daunting, but it doesn't need to be. Using reusables is very easy and we recommend not overthinking it. Check out our blog on 'how to switch to cloth nappies' for lots of advice from us and some of our customers. Also worth checking out is out is our guide on how to use reusable nappies which includes guidance on perfecting your fit.

They work in a similar way to disposables, by catching and containing baby's wee and poo before your little one is ready to toilet train or start using training pants.

The long and short of it is that reusable nappies are washed in the washing machine instead of being thrown in the bin like their single-use counterparts.

What is the difference between a pocket nappy and snap-in style?

A pocket nappy requires users to stuff inserts into a material opening, whereas snap-in style allows users to simply snap inserts into place quickly. Both are considered All in Two style.

How many times can you use a modern cloth nappy?

Once washed and dried, reusable cloth nappies can be used on your baby again and again. Made mostly from bamboo, there is no limit on how many times you can wash and reuse them.

You can continue to use the same stash until your child is toilet trained, and then pass them down to the next child.

Choosing to buy a premium-quality bamboo nappy means that they will last the test of time.

How to wash reusable cloth nappies

This is one of the most common questions we get asked. Keeping your nappies clean and fresh by following correct washing instructions isn't just about keeping stains away, it prolongs their life and prevents nappy rash too.

We recommend a two-step wash system. This involves using a dry pail basket and putting all nappies through the washing machine twice before being hung out to dry and reused.

Head over to our guide on how to wash cloth nappies correctly for a complete washing guide and to learn more about our care instructions.

How many reusable nappies do I need?

This depends on if you plan to use them part-time or full-time. It also depends on how often you plan to wash them. If you're wanting to space out time between washes, you'll need more nappies in your stash compared to someone who washes every day or two.

We answer this question in full and cover some things which can impact how many reusable nappies you need for your family.

Can you tumble-dry cloth nappies?

Cloth inserts which sit against your baby's skin, along with cloth wipes, can either be dried in the sun or the tumble dryer (otherwise known as a dryer or electric dryer). However, the nappy covers, which go over the inserts, should not be tumble dried as this can damage the water-resistant material.

The cover should only ever be dried in the shade, not in full sun, as sun can also damage the material. Learn everything you need to know about how to dry and use cloth nappies correctly with our easy-to-follow guides.

Are reusable nappies worth it?

The up-front investment to buy your first stash can seem scary, but they will save you a lot of money in the long run compared to continually buying single-use items.

Your child will get through around 6,000 nappies before they are ready for toilet training, and this is if they toilet train around the age of 2. Many children are only ready to potty train when they are considerably older, meaning the cost continues to add up.

Take a look at our disposables vs cloth nappies cost comparison to find out more.

Are reusable cloth nappies better for the environment?

Cloth nappies are considered a more sustainable alternative to single-use disposables.

Scientists estimate that disposable nappies take up to 500 years to decompose in landfill. In the US, 2% of landfill is made up of disposable nappies alone. With each child getting through around 6,000 nappies before toilet training, and the world's population continuing to expand, disposables are not sustainable. Read more about sustainability here.
